MEMBERSHIP & RECRUITMENT
Do I need prior professional experience?
No. Selection emphasizes demonstrated interest, effort, curiosity, commitment, and willingness to learn. Applicants are not expected to be experts.
What are the four career verticals?
Finance, Consulting, Technology, and Higher Education. Higher Education includes graduate-school and professional-school pathways such as law and medicine.
Do I apply separately to each vertical?
CUBPS uses one centralized application. You select your preferred vertical, complete general questions, and answer questions specific to that vertical.
Can I attend events without being a member?
Yes. Selected panels, fireside chats, information sessions, and collaborative events are open to the broader Columbia community. Check individual announcements for access and registration details.
What does formal membership include?
The 2026–2027 model includes vertical education, private Slack channels, technical and interview preparation, recruiting resources, smaller networking opportunities, selected alumni programming, site visits, and community activities. Specific offerings depend on the vertical and semester.
Who is eligible to apply?
CUBPS serves Black Columbia undergraduates. Final school eligibility will be confirmed with the official Fall 2026 application.
How much time will membership take?
The weekly commitment will be shared with the official application and semester expectations. Members are expected to participate actively in their cohort.
Can I switch verticals?
At the end of the education program, members can evaluate their interests and explore moving between verticals.
Where will I find the application and deadline?
The official application link, opening, and deadline will be shared through CUBPS channels. Visit the Recruitment page and follow @cubps for current announcements.
